As a result of the physical distancing measures implemented by the Victorian and Australian Governments in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Post Sentence Authority has transitioned to remote working arrangements.

In making this transition, the Authority has not altered or minimised its activities. It continues to administer its functions under the Serious Offenders Act 2018 to support the safety and protection of the Victorian community, and work with its stakeholders in the post sentence scheme.

The Authority will continue to convene multiple hearings per week to monitor and review the progress of serious offenders, who are subject to a post sentence order, to ensure that they comply with their conditions and receive services which help to address their risks of reoffending.

The Authority also remains on-call and available to meet 24 hours a day for any urgent matters that require the Authority’s immediate attention.

The Authority’s operational structure and use of technology will allow us to sustain remote working arrangements indefinitely. As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation evolves, the Authority will routinely review its operations to ensure that it continues to effectively support community protection whilst working remotely.
